Short Story

We nearly lost our family home earlier this year but, through faith and family support, managed to save it just in time. After enduring job loss, financial strain, and the recent losses of our nephew and my husband’s brother, we’re rebuilding but face high mortgage payments that keep us on edge. We’re humbly seeking $40,000 to help secure our home and repay those who supported us, allowing us to move forward with stability and gratitude

Story

Hello friends and kind souls,

We’re reaching out with a story that’s deeply personal and humbling to share. This past year, our family nearly lost our home. With an auction date looming just days away, we felt a miracle unfold that allowed us to save our house—a place we believe is meant to be ours. Now, we’re asking for your help to hold onto it, stabilize, and start building a secure future.

This home is more than walls and a roof. It’s been the one steady place for our family, the foundation where we’ve gathered, celebrated, and created countless memories. It’s where we’ve supported one another through life’s storms, and where we still dream of hosting friends and family in the years to come. We believe that by helping us now, you’re helping preserve this home as a place of love and community.

The road to this point has been challenging, shaped by hardships we never imagined. In the past year and a half, we’ve faced losses that shook our family to its core: the tragic suicide of our young adult nephew and, just months later, the unexpected passing of my husband’s brother from a heart attack. Additionally, my husband’s father is suffering from early dementia and mobility issues. The weight of these losses and the ongoing care we try to provide for his father have added emotional and financial strains that are difficult to put into words.

For me, personal challenges began early in life. I grew up in a family dynamic shaped by narcissism, and only recently have I started breaking free from the echoes of that upbringing. My mother’s voice still lingers in my mind, and each day is a step toward healing and finding my own path. My husband, meanwhile, grew up witnessing his father’s battles with depression. Through it all, he’s carried a quiet strength that makes me prouder every day—a man of deep integrity and resilience who has given his all for our family.

When COVID hit, my husband lost his job. Finding work again in the pandemic was a struggle, and though he eventually landed a position as a project manager in Manitoba’s cottage country, financial strain soon followed as the industry faced its own setbacks. When we were issued a foreclosure notice earlier this year, it felt like our world was crumbling. But with help from our parents and, we believe, divine intervention, we were able to save our home just in time. My husband has since secured a stable job with regular paychecks, which we’re immensely grateful for.

But we still face an uphill battle. Our private mortgage, while lifesaving, has left us with steep monthly payments and an uncertain future. That’s why we’re humbly asking for $40,000 to reduce these overwhelming payments and repay the family members who generously stepped in when we needed it most.

With this help, we can finally breathe a little easier, secure in the knowledge that our family has a home, and I can fully focus on building a better future without the constant fear of losing everything we’ve worked for. Every contribution you feel moved to make, whether it’s a donation, a prayer, or sharing our story, brings us one step closer to stability. We’re committed to paying it forward, and with your help, we can soon be in a place to offer the same support to others in need.

We’re overwhelmed with gratitude for this new chance at life, and we believe this journey is part of a bigger plan—one filled with hope, resilience, and faith in the goodness of others. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for being part of our story.
