Story
Hey, I’m Kiandra Daniels, LMFT-S, founder of Color Wheel Therapy and creator of the #YallNeedTherapy movement. Our mission is simple but powerful: to encourage more Black people to seek therapy and prioritize their mental health.
For too long, generational trauma and stigma have prevented Black individuals from healing. Therapy has often been inaccessible—financially, culturally, or both. #YallNeedTherapy was born to change that. It’s a movement to normalize mental health care in our community, make therapy more affordable, and create a safe space where Black people can heal.
Why This Matters:
The Black community has carried the weight of historical trauma, systemic oppression, and ongoing struggles—and we’re still expected to move through life as if this pain is normal. It’s not. We deserve healing.
Mental health isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. But Black individuals are:
• More likely to experience trauma, discrimination, and financial hardship.
• Less likely to have access to culturally competent therapy.
• Least likely to seek help due to stigma and cost barriers.
As a Black therapist, I witness this daily. Too many of us suffer in silence, believing we must “tough it out.” This movement exists to break that cycle. Healing begins with us, and it’s time to create a future where mental wellness is a priority.
Color Wheel Therapy is a culturally conscious space that has the goal of improving lives by empowering individuals, couples, and families to strive for a healthy balance of autonomy and togetherness.
Mental health is a crucial, yet often overlooked, aspect of our overall well-being. At Color Wheel Therapy, we believe that all Black people deserve access to quality mental health care, regardless of their financial situation.
