About Me

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to read my story. My name is Amokelani, and I am in the final year of my PhD in Medicine at the University of Cape Town, specializing in human genetics. My research focuses on using next generation sequencing to uncover the genetic causes of complex neurological diseases, with an emphasis on solutions relevant to African populations.

This journey has been fueled by my passion for advancing medical science and making a difference in healthcare, especially in underrepresented communities. Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to scientific knowledge through publications and collaborations, but the financial demands of this path have been significant.

I am reaching out for support because I am struggling to cover the costs of completing my studies. Despite my best efforts through part-time work and personal savings, the expenses of tuition, research materials, and daily living have become overwhelming.
