Struggling Full-Time Student in Mongolia – Please Help with Tuition and Rent
Story
Hi,
I’m reaching out for help as I navigate an extremely challenging time. I’m currently living in Mongolia, working full-time while studying full-time to support my mom and two younger siblings. I’m proud to be starting my final semester today, but I’m overwhelmed by the financial burden I’m carrying.
My tuition fee for this semester is 5.5 million tugriks (approximately $1,500), and I have no way to cover it. I had worked for a previous employer who promised to pay my tuition and provide large paychecks, but after working six months without pay, I was left with nothing. Now, I’m employed at a company that pays regularly, but my salary only covers basic bills and the interest on my debts.
Because of those unpaid six months, I’m currently in 4 million tugriks of debt (about $1,100) and can no longer take on new loans because of my poor credit score. I also owe my patient landlady 3.6 million tugriks for rent (around $980), and while she has been understanding, I know I’m running out of time.
I’ve tried everything I can to make ends meet, including looking into freelancing, but working and studying full-time has taken a serious toll on my physical and mental health. I simply can’t do more without burning out completely.
I’m trying so hard, but I need help. If anyone is willing to support me in any way—whether it’s a small donation or sharing my story—I would be endlessly grateful. Every bit of kindness brings me closer to completing my education and stabilizing my family’s future.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my story.
