I am a former teacher who has recently faced significant hardships due to being forcibly displaced from my home in a conflict area in Ethiopia. The ongoing civil war and rising ethnic tensions have created a dire situation for many, resulting in millions of people being uprooted from their homes and losing everything they have built over the years. Families like mine have been caught in the crossfire, leading to a humanitarian crisis that has left us vulnerable and in desperate need of support.

As a result of this conflict, I have lost my job, my home, and my sense of security. I am now living in a new area, trying to adapt to a life that is drastically different from the one I once knew. The displacement has not only affected me but has also had a profound impact on my two young children: my son, who is eight years old, and my daughter, who is just two and a half. The emotional toll on them has been significant, and I am deeply concerned about their well-being in these uncertain times.

The current inflation throughout the country has further exacerbated our situation. The cost of living has skyrocketed, making it increasingly difficult to afford basic necessities such as food, clothing, and shelter. Prices for essential goods have risen dramatically, and I find myself struggling to provide even the most basic meals for my children. The burden of paying rent weighs heavily on me, as I do not want to risk losing our temporary shelter.

I am actively seeking employment, but the process has been slow, and opportunities are scarce due to the ongoing instability. Many businesses have closed, and those that remain open are often unable to hire new employees. Without a steady income, I feel trapped in a cycle of hardship, and my children’s future hangs in the balance.
