Save my house
Story
My name is Kevin and I rarely ask for assistance. Recently, I experienced a workplace accident that was not my fault. A scaffolder removed a safety scaffold, causing me to fall five meters which of I landed on my head. As a result, I sustained severe injuries, including broken a pelvis on both sides with a crushed left sacrum, three spinal fractures, one neck fracture, a broken acromion bone in my shoulder (which will require surgery once I can walk), ten broken ribs, a fractured eye socket, a fractured skull, and a brain bleed.
I was placed in an induced coma while doctors assessed my injuries. Surgery was performed on my pelvis involving the insertion of four screws in the hope of repair. Currently, I am unable to walk without a frame, and it has been eight weeks since the accident. I have been informed that it will another four weeks before I can attempt to put weight on my left leg, and then, it will only 50% of my weight at best. Additionally, the neurologist advised me that I am unable to drive for approximately nine months due to the nature of my head injuries and ongoing complications.
I am uncertain when I will be able to return to work, as a long recovery journey lies ahead. Unfortunately, my insurance claim was declined because am self-employed, despite the company I worked for having insurance. I am currently fighting this decision. At the moment, I have no income and may be forced to sell my home, as cannot pay the $2,500 AUD monthly mortgage along with other bills. My savings are quickly depleting and will not last much longer. This situation is extremely difficult to accept, as I worked hard for my home, and losing it under these circumstances feels devastating. If I were selling it willingly, it would be a different matter but having that choice taken from me is deeply upsetting.
If anyone with empathy willing and able to assist, I would greatly appreciate it. I can provide proof, including hospital records, X-rays, and other documentation.
All funds that may be raised will be literally to save the house.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Best wishes to all.
The figure i have put won’t save my house but it will give me time to hopefully get back on track.
