Hi, my name is zachery miller, and I am reaching out for help to get a service dog to support me through my ongoing battle with PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic attacks. These challenges have deeply affected my life, and after years of struggling, I’ve learned that a service dog could make a tremendous difference in my well-being and daily functioning.

I’m currently facing a lot of difficulty navigating through day-to-day tasks due to the overwhelming effects of my mental health conditions. My PTSD often triggers flashbacks, my anxiety makes social interactions and leaving my home incredibly difficult, and panic attacks can come without warning, leaving me feeling helpless. Depression often feels like an unshakable weight that isolates me from those I love.

After speaking with professionals and researching options, I’ve found that a service dog would provide crucial support for managing these symptoms. A service dog can offer physical and emotional support in real-time, assist with grounding techniques during panic attacks, alert me to signs of distress, and help me feel safer in everyday situations. This will allow me to regain some independence and a better quality of life.

The money will go towards:

1. Training for the Service Dog: Professional training is essential to ensure that the dog can assist with specific tasks, like alerting me to panic attacks, providing comfort during flashbacks, and helping with emotional grounding. This can cost between $15,000 and $30,000 depending on the level of training required.

2. Adoption Fees: The initial cost of adopting a trained service dog can range from $2,000 to $5,000. This fee helps cover the dog’s early socialization, temperament testing, and preparation for the service dog training process.

3. Veterinary Care and Health Maintenance: It’s important that the service dog remains in good health to be effective. This includes initial vaccinations, annual vet checkups, and any necessary ongoing treatments. This is estimated to cost around $1,000 – $1,500 annually.

4. Ongoing Training and Support: In addition to the initial training, there will be ongoing sessions to ensure that the dog continues to meet my needs as my mental health evolves. This could cost anywhere from $500 to $1,000 a year.

5. Equipment and Supplies: A service dog requires specialized gear such as a harness, service dog vests, leash, bedding, and toys to ensure a comfortable and functional working environment. This will cost an estimated $500 – $1,000 upfront.

The total cost for this endeavor could range from $20,000 to $40,000. Any donation, big or small, will help get me closer to the support I desperately need. I truly believe that with the assistance of a service dog, I can reclaim parts of my life that have been taken from me by my mental health struggles.
