Hello, my name is Susmita and I’m from Bangalore, India. Here’s my story:

3 years ago I had suffered an injury to my knee which made me redundant for a long period of time and this incident started a domino effect that has finally knocked me down. I was unable to work for almost a year, hence lost all my saving just trying to survive. When I was finally ready to return to employment, I found myself in midst of a struggling job market. However I did manage to secure employment which did not last long as the company I was working for, shut down their operations and failed to pay my salary for 2 months along with severance. This incident forced me to lend money from the willing banks with an extreme high interest. My goal was to find another job as soon as possible and clear my debt but I was faced with more difficulties as a family member fell ill and I had no other choice but to take more credit. At this point, I was already deep in debt and without employment which seemed like an impossible challenge. The crash in the job market, mixed with inflation made it difficult to find decent work and the rising living expense was hard to keep up with. 6 months later I have finally secured a position with an organisation, however, my monthly income has come too late, too little. On top of everything, I was struck with another tragedy recently where I had lost a huge amount of money in the form of deposit; my landlord is refusing to pay me back since 3 months after I had moved to a cheaper apartment.

With everything that has happened recently, my debt ratio has exceed my income and I’m unable to cope with living expenses along with the payments.

I have tried in vain to earn more money from side hustles but they have not been fruitful. I’m constantly trying to improve my skills to get better opportunity and in the meantime I’ve tried to seek debt consolidation from banks without any success.

My current goal is not only to survive but to cut down the payments I have to make monthly. I am in desperate need of help in the form of donation or loan with low interest to give myself a chance to live. I understand if I can not pay back 50% of what I own currently, debt consolidation from a bank will not be a viable option. Hence my plea for help in this platform.

I’m eager to work out a plan where I pay back the money I may receive from this platform. I am yet to miss any payment and hoping that someone will put enough trust in me to help me with a little push.
