Hopeful Nomads
Story
Hi, we’re Matt and Rosa, two hopeful nomads living out of our car while trying to save for a home base to finally call our own. Being unhoused in California has been tremendously difficult, especially with the cost of living skyrocketing in recent years. In 2024, the average rent for a one-bedroom apartment in California is around $2,500 per month, and housing prices have surged, with the median home cost exceeding $760,000. Even basic living expenses have become overwhelming, with groceries and gas prices consistently higher than the national average.
Although we’ve managed to get some government assistance, it feels almost impossible to cover the growing costs without additional help. We’re trying to stay positive and hopeful, but the reality of living unhoused is daunting, and securing a stable home feels out of reach without support from others. With your help, we’re working towards building a future where we have a place to call home. Every little bit can make a huge difference in helping us get there. Thank you for being part of our journey to stability and safety.
