Help a Grieving Mother and Her Son Rebuild Their Lives
Story
My name is Kristal Gilbert, and I am reaching out for help because my son and I are in desperate need of support. The past few years have been unimaginably hard for us, filled with overwhelming loss, tragedy, and hardship. I am asking for your help so we can get back on our feet and begin to rebuild our lives.
On May 18, 2021, my life changed forever. I lost my 8-year-old son in a tragic accident when my 15-year-old son shot him in the heart, taking his life. Just a week later, my oldest son left for California, and I haven’t heard from him in over three and a half years. The pain of losing my children—one to death and another to silence—has been unbearable.
A year later, on March 23, 2022, another devastating blow hit our family. My house burned down in a kitchen oil fire, leaving me and my 6-year-old son homeless. Since then, I have been struggling to provide even the most basic necessities for him.
I lost my job due to my declining mental health, which has been deeply affected by the tragedies we’ve endured. I have exhausted every resource in my hometown of Moses Lake, Washington, but the assistance we’ve received has been minimal at best. Despite my efforts to recover and move forward, I cannot do this alone.
My 6-year-old son and I are asking for your kindness and generosity to help us rebuild. Any funds raised will go toward securing stable housing, covering basic needs like food and clothing, and helping me regain stability for the sake of my child. We just want the chance to live a normal life again—a life where my son can grow up feeling safe and loved.
Your support, no matter how small, would mean the world to us. If you can’t donate, even sharing our story would make a difference. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read our story and for any help you can offer.
Sincerely,
Kristal gilbert
