Family Trying to Get Into Apartment
Story
Moved our family from Louisiana to Colorado in August for better work opportunities. Been hit by a series of problems (hospitalization, car trouble, etc.). As it is, we are living in a hotel (least expensive we could find that was safe), which is making it impossible to save for an apartment, which would save us money.
My elderly parents (77 and 78 years old) are with us, as well as our 18 year old daughter who has health problems that make it hard for her to work (POTS and heart trouble).
My husband and I are both working. Unfortunately, it’s barely enough to keep our heads above water, and then, only because of the extra holiday work my husband is getting.
Our goal here is $4k so that we can pay deposits to get an apartment. Most places are at least $1700 per month for 3 bedrooms, plus utilities (still cheaper than the hotel), plus application fees and moving costs. The total amount would provide a little extra for a small safety net (a month’s rent and utilities), plus any unforeseen needs that arise.
