Hello everyone, my name is Michelle. My family was displaced due to a program we were put into to help stabilize us and help us reach self-sufficiency, but it ended up leaving us worse off than we were before. The landlord that the program decided to work with raised the rent literally the month before we graduated the program and left us unable to afford the rent plus utilities and the costs of living. Not to mention, the apartment we were put into was falling apart; the tiles were cracked and broken, all the plumbing was faulty, and the electrical system was terrible—our lights would literally explode. We were then evicted due to not being able to afford the sudden raise in rent, and our family of 6 plus our animals (2 cats and a dog) were forced into a 1-bedroom weekly, which we are struggling to maintain.

We are looking to get back on our feet and get a home which we all can comfortably fit into and won’t have to figure out how we are going to pay the rent from week to week. Your donation will go towards this week’s rent, due on Tuesday. application fees, moving costs, and deposits, and whatever other costs we may face during this process. And we will be able to breathe again, and our son will be able to live in a stress-free environment, one he deserves.
