Ashley did nothing wrong. She was simply walking near the wrong place at the wrong time, in the company of someone she barely knew. She had no involvement in what that person was accused of. She had no knowledge of it. She had no part in it whatsoever. And yet, she is the one paying the price.

Right now, Ashley is sitting behind bars for something she did not do, because of nothing more than proximity and circumstance. The legal system, as it is designed, requires her to remain in custody until a mandatory $2,000 bondsman fee is paid in full. That fee is the only thing standing between her and her freedom, her home, and her life.

She cannot fight to clear her name from inside a cell. She cannot prepare her defense, consult freely with her attorney, or protect her mental health from behind those walls. Every single day she remains there is another day the wrong person suffers for someone else’s actions.
