With just 1$ from you, my family can survive
Story
<span;><span;>My name is Ibrahim. <span;>I am a graduate of a technical institute from the Radiology Department,<span;>But now I work cleaning the environment and carrying tables<span;> .<span;> I am a young man living in Kurdistan, where many families struggle because of the economic crisis. I grew up in a poor family, and since I was a child, I learned to live with very little.
<span;>We were always careful with money. Sometimes we had to choose between important things. I watched my family worry about the future, about rent, about stability. As I grew older, I promised myself that one day I would change our situation.
<span;>I work hard. I try every day. But no matter how much I try, my income is not enough to buy even a small home for my family.
<span;>I am not asking for a big house.
<span;>I am not asking for a perfect life.
<span;>I have a sister and a brother with disabilities. Their level of understanding is lower than average. My mother and father are both 60 years old. My only hope is to gather all of us under one roof so we can live together. In the evenings, when I come back from work, I want to bring them food and everything they need and take care of them, because they depend on me.
<span;>Right now, I have one job, but I cannot cover my living expenses, and I cannot afford to rent a house to provide a normal life for my family. I have tried very hard to find another job so I can work two jobs, but I have been searching for a long time without success. They always tell me, “You don’t have experience,” or “You haven’t done this job before,” or “We are not satisfied with you.” Here, to find a job, you usually need to know someone to recommend you. We are poor and we don’t know anyone, so no one hires us. <span;>No relatives come to visit our home because we don’t have very nice food to prepare for them. They don’t help us because we are poor, and there is no one to support us.
<span;>Even if I find a second job, it may not change much, because employers here make workers work long hours for very little pay. I have tried so hard to stand on my own feet, but it is very difficult at this age to carry all of these responsibilities on my shoulders.
<span;>I hope someone can help lighten the burden on me. Thank you very much.
<span;>Until now, I only have a bicycle that I use to go to work. I leave my bicycle near a gas station and then walk so I can take a bus to reach my workplace. On my way back home, I do the same thing.
<span;>So far, I have not been able to get a driving license because of my difficult life circumstances. Even now, when our neighbors see me, the clothes I wear are very repetitive—I have not been able to change them because of my low salary. Our neighbors sometimes donate their clothes to us.
<span;>Many times, I have really wanted certain food, clothes, or other things. But in my heart, I tell myself, “I already ate it,” or “I already bought it.” It is only a way to comfort myself, because I cannot afford to have those things.
<span;>In my country, many young people have lost hope. I cannot leave my country either, because my mother, father, and my sister and brother with disabilities depend on me.
<span;>I have sacrificed everything in my life just to provide a decent family and a worthy home for them. I have forgotten all my own dreams, only so I can take care of my family.
<span;>I only worry that because I work so much, I won’t be able to give enough attention to my mother, father, my sister who has a disability, and my brother who has a disability. My family needs me so I can support and help them.
<span;>My mother has diabetes, and my father has a severe cough. We can barely support ourselves.
<span;>I am very afraid that my parents will not live long enough to see my success. I am very afraid that they will not see me achieve something in my life.
<span;>Their biggest dream is to see me get married and have children. But the hardships of life and our poverty have become obstacles in my way.
<span;>Have a bike for the rest of my life. Just become our own landlord. I can provide a decent life for our families.
<span;>In this city of mine, my rights have become a dream.
<span;>We are not asking for more; we are only asking for the amount we truly need.
<span;> We need an additional $50,000 to buy a simple house. It is our only way to be free from all this stress and worry.”
<span;>Thank you for reading my story.
<span;>Thank you for your kindness.
