My name is Valerie.  I’m 64 struggling to make ends meet.  I’m also all alone.  I lost my mother one year ago.   My trust fund has been stolen.  I’m barely making my light bill payments.

I want to return to Washington state were I’m originally from.  My mother & I flew down to Florida at the invitation of a good friend.  Everything, has gone horribly wrong.   My mother passed one month shy of our anniversary arrival to Florida, my friend has been dishonest about my mothers trust or estate.  I’m unsure which because Mother never discussed this matter with me.  Although intelligent, never having got into any trouble, for some reason my mother did not see fit to have me take care of her affairs.   The reason?  I’m not quite sure but suspect some manipulation going on behind the scenes.   I’ve applied for help with local Legal Aid here in Florida.  I have narrowed my choices down to two.    I will either try to return to Washington State or since I reside in West Palm Beach which is not a good fit for myself having been born in 1960’s California I may try to move to Miami.   Once there I could possibly stay at a transitional house for veterans.   I served in U.S. Army.    Miami would be closer & may be more practical.   I am from Washington state but I have no living family that remains there.  My goals are: Live in VOA transitional housing which provides a personal apartment, attend Junior college for Pharmacy Tech & pre nursing.   I want to be a registered nurse.  Currently, I’m on a fixed income due to several trauma filled events that both myself & my mother endured.  they have set me back.   The grieving process was the worst & took time.  I’m still grieving .   I feel guilty wishing I  could have done more for my mother she had an addiction, suffered from diagnosed depression + anxiety.
