A few disclaimers to get out of the way. First, I take responsibility for our current situation; short-sighted decisions, desperate measures, depression and “bad luck” have put us into a bind. That said, I try not to “woe is me” about everything. I put bad luck in quotes because I don’t really believe in luck or fate or whatnot, however we do seem to have more unfortunate things happen at the most unfortunate time.

So,  we have always been paycheck to paycheck (like most Americans) and one unexpected emergency away from disaster.  Last year, I cashed in most of my 401K ($11,000) to try and get rid of some of our bills, followed the rules (20%) but still had a $1000 IRS notice this year, first time I’ve ever owed taxes ( which shows you how much I usually make). It helped but life continues with just about exactly what we can pay each week.

Today, looking at the bills and the income, we are fighting a slowly losing battle. We’re not on the verge of being booted but, without a quick influx we will find ourselves fighting against increasingly impossible to surmount riptide.

I know there are others here in more desperate straits and facing circumstances that I cannot even imagine. However, if we could get a little help to stay afloat, to pay the medical and credit card bills we might actually be able to catch our breath.
