I plan to retire from teaching in 2029 after dedicating 27 years to educating students in Texas. My goal is to retire debt-free and enjoy a comfortable life after years of hard work. As the primary income earner in my household, I will rely on a $2,500 monthly payment from the Texas Retirement System (TRS), which does not include the $600 health insurance cost. Unfortunately, Texas teachers are not eligible for Social Security benefits. After nearly three decades of service, I hope to secure a financially stable future and truly enjoy the retirement I’ve earned.
