Single Mother with Autistic Child Struggling After Family Loss
Story
Hello,
My name is Ashley, and I’m writing on behalf of my cousin Carrie and her 5-year-old son, Elijah.
Both Carrie and Elijah are on the autism spectrum and have always relied heavily on the love and support of Carrie’s mother — their caregiver, their stability, and their home. Tragically, her mother passed away recently, leaving Carrie and Elijah in a heartbreaking and uncertain situation.
Since losing her mother, Carrie has been doing her best to hold things together, but it’s been overwhelming. Elijah, just a small boy, is not only grieving but also facing relentless bullying at school. Carrie is doing everything in her power to protect him and get them both the help they need, including applying for disability — but as many of you know, that process takes time and offers no immediate relief.
They are struggling to afford basic necessities right now — rent, groceries, transportation, and school supplies — just to keep some sense of normalcy for Elijah.
We’re asking for anything you can give to help Carrie and Elijah stay afloat during this incredibly difficult time. Even a small donation would make a huge difference while they wait for more permanent support.
If you’ve ever been in a tight spot, or watched someone you love suffer while trying to do right by their child, I hope you’ll consider helping.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts
– Ashley
