Short Story

Here’s a breakdown of my financial situation:

✳️ Immediate Needs

• Rent, bills, food, and basic expenses (4 months): $8,000

• Daughter’s remaining orthodontic balance: $3,000

• Basic vet care and food for my dog: $500

✳️ Dental & Health

• Final dental restoration for myself after addiction-related damage: $16,000

I have been a patient at a local dental university program since 2022. They are amazing students practicing clinical for graduation and the school offers all dental services and at a much lower rate than standard professional options. They do not accept insurance and all services must be paid out of pocket prior to any procedure. I have gone through several stages of a long process to repair major dental damage, including several lost teeth, root canals, gum disease, decay and cupped and cracked teeth. I had braces put on over a year ago to strengthen my teeth enough to support the final restoration work and am due to have them removed in a month. From there I am scheduled over to the prosthodontics department for several crowns, bridgework and implants to bring me closer to functioning normal. I have suffered through pain and the inability to eat and chew  properly for years, and now I am unable to afford the final stage I have waited so long for.

✳️ Past Debts

• Credit card debt from survival years: $20,000
The phone calls are coming in all day long since I stopped being able to make the payments.

• Student loan debt: $25,000

• Repayment to my mom (who supported me through it all): $25,000

She is in jeopardy of losing Medicare coverage on her medication for multiple myeloma that she’s been managing for 8 years. This debt to her is my number 1 priority above all else.

Story

IMG 3928

Hi, my name is Angela, and I’m 52 years old. I’m rebuilding my life after decades of addiction, loss, and heartbreak. I’ve come a long way—but I can’t do this next part alone.

🌿 My Journey

I was raised in a loving, middle-class home by two amazing parents—a police officer and a banker—who gave me every opportunity to succeed. But even from a young age, I struggled to feel like I fit in. I chased acceptance and excitement through drugs and alcohol, beginning at 14. My addiction spanned more than 20 years. I lost nearly everything—my health, my marriage, my freedom, and the trust of those I love most.

Rock bottom hit when my mom, who had stood by me through everything, finally shut me out. I had nothing and no one—and that’s when I cried out to God. And He came.

I had a profound and life-changing spiritual experience, and I’ve been clean and sober ever since—almost four years this Christmas.

🌟 Rebuilding with Purpose

Since that moment, I’ve worked tirelessly to rebuild. I started over at a local diner, working my way from server to manager. One of my regular customers offered me a new opportunity at his moving company. After 5 great years at the restaurant, I took the leap and accepted the job. I began making real money for the first time in my life, and finally started experiencing financial stability.

A few months ago, rumors began to circle that the business was failing. In mid June 2025, after one amazing year at this new job I loved, I was unexpectedly fired from my position. Not only was I terminated under false accusations, my past was used against me, which was uncalled for and cut deep. No warning. No proof. No justice. Just like that, I lost my job—and the financial security I’d worked so hard to build.

💼 Where I Am Now

Today, I’m:

• Clean and sober

• A proud mom to an amazing daughter in college

• Living simply and humbly

• Working hard to launch my own small business as a retail wholesaler

• Still leaning on God every step of the way

But the financial rug has been pulled out from under me. And I’m terrified.

💔 Why I’m Asking for Help

I’m not here to ask for charity—I’m here to ask for a hand up, not a handout. I’ve invested what little I had left into starting my own business as a retail wholesaler. I am overjoyed that I have found a career that I am good at and sparks passion in me. I am driven to succeed and trust the process, but I need help to stay afloat until I generate regular income.

I’m also asking for more than money. I’m asking for mentorship, guidance, and if possible, someone to walk with me as I continue this journey of healing and growth.

🙏🏻 What I Need Most

Even small donations help. But even more than that, I’m seeking:

• A mentor who understands rebuilding from addiction

• A life coach or spiritual advisor to help me grow

• Financial literacy support to manage what I earn as my business grows

• A friend—someone who believes in redemption

💛 Final Words

I’ve lived through addiction, prison, overdose, and loss. But I’ve also experienced the miracle of recovery, the grace of God, and the power of second chances.

If you’ve read this far—thank you. Truly. Whether you can give financially, offer advice, pray for me, or just share this with someone who can help, I am deeply grateful.

With love, humility, and hope,

Angela and Family
