Short Story

Reflecting on the agricultural prospects in my village, where bountiful rainfall creates fertile ground, I envisaged the establishment of a flour mill. This venture would involve processing the locally grown produce into flour, packaging it, and distributing it to local vendors and consumers. My aspirations for this endeavor are multifaceted:

  1. To generate employment opportunities for the idle youth in my village and provide a source of livelihood.
  2. To support school-going youths by addressing their dietary needs.
  3. To extend assistance to impoverished households and the elderly within the community.
  4. To elevate the socioeconomic status of individuals in the vicinity.
  5. To fulfill the dreams I held since childhood of contributing to the welfare of our families and the broader community and being a part of the change I hoped to be.

During my time at university, I diligently researched machinery required for the flour mill on platforms such as Alibaba.com and Amazon. I identified a compact starter machine that could produce a minimum of 900 bags of flour per day, priced between $40,000 and $100,000. Additionally, tractors for agricultural purposes were identified, ranging from $5,000 to $12,000.

My vision is to expand the employment landscape from the fields to a full-fledged factory setup, potentially creating around 400 jobs. To kickstart this initiative, I am seeking financial support amounting to $112,000. These funds would be allocated towards procuring the necessary equipment and launching the flour mill. Any assistance or contributions can be channeled to my account at Nation Microfinance Bank (NMB) under the name Antavius Julius Bagarunda with account number 32110017309.

Story

My name is Antavius Julius Bagarunda, and I come from Tanzania, a country with diverse cultural, natural, and historical assets. I grew up in a challenging environment, being part of a humble family in a community where poverty was prevalent. The lack of paved roads throughout our entire district was emblematic of the financial hardship that enveloped us. It wasn’t until my transition from the fourth to the fifth form that I encountered a paved road, marking a significant contrast from what I had been accustomed to.

In my formative years, my father hoped that one of his children would break the cycle of poverty and access higher education. I made a solemn promise to him that I would pursue a university education. In 2022, I fulfilled this commitment and graduated, a significant achievement not just for me but for my family and community as well.

Throughout my academic journey, I bore witness to the plight of my peers who were unable to attend school due to financial constraints, lack of proper attire, and basic sustenance. These experiences ignited a sense of responsibility within me to make a positive impact on my village, district, and country.
