REBUILD LARRY’S DREAM
Story
Hello, my name is Larry Forbes, and I’m reaching out because I’m facing one of the most difficult times in my life. Over the past year, I’ve gone through a series of unfortunate circumstances that have left me struggling to pay basic bills and debts. I’m behind on my rent, car insurance, health insurance, and other essential expenses. Additionally, I have student loan payments and credit card debt that have become overwhelming.
Despite doing my best, I’ve found myself unable to stay afloat. I’ve faced separation from my wife, ongoing mental health struggles, diabetes, and even emotional trauma from things like the island being hit by a Category 4 hurricane, and a car accident that left lasting scars, both physically and emotionally. Though I’ve worked hard to push through these challenges, the weight of everything has made it impossible to stay on top of my financial responsibilities.
I’m not giving up, though. I have a vision to turn things around by starting a Floating Taco Bar that could help me build a more stable future. But in order to make Larry’s dream a reality, I need help with both my immediate bills and the equipment required to launch my dream.
Over the last few years, life has been incredibly tough. I went through a separation from my wife, which brought emotional strain, followed by mental health challenges, and the added weight of chronic illnesses like diabetes. Along with health problems, I’ve had family issues and friendship struggles that left me feeling isolated and unsupported in a foreign environment.
I’ve worked hard to stay employed, I am working as a Project Manager for Rebuilding houses here on the island, but this is not a full-time job. I’ve tried to manage everything the best I could, but insomnia, loneliness, and embarrassment have often overwhelmed me.
In addition to these personal struggles, I’m facing growing financial pressure from student loans and credit card debt. It feels like no matter how hard I try to catch up, the weight of these debts keeps me stuck.
Right now, I need financial help to cover my immediate living expenses and begin to build a foundation for the future. Here’s a breakdown of the bills I’m struggling to pay:
Rent: $1800
Car Insurance: $ 250
Health Insurance: $400
Phone Bill: $280
Groceries: $ 400
Utilities (Electricity + Internet): $300
Student Loan Payments: $ 1400
Credit Card Debt: $2,392.00
Total Estimate : $7,222.00
These are the bills I need help covering to prevent further hardship and avoid losing my home or essential services.
Despite all the setbacks, I still have hope. One of the things that has kept me motivated is my dream of starting a Taco Bar and getting a part time Project Management job. This Taco Bar is not just a creative outlet for me—it’s my way out of this cycle of financial struggle. I believe that with the right tools, and a humble but positive attitude I can create a bar that will inspire others, help people facing similar challenges, and eventually generate enough income to provide for myself and build a more stable future.
However, to launch this startup project, I need the necessary equipment and support. Here’s what I need to get started:
Laptop or Computer (for video creation and editing): $1200
Cameras (to create high-quality videos): $850
Microphone (for good sound quality): $200
Lighting Equipment (to improve video quality): $120
External Hard Drive (for storing large video files): $400
POS System (To record and track transactions): $850
POS Printer (Print customers receipts): $120
Total Estimated Cost for Equipment: $3,740.00
These tools will help me get my Taco Bar up and running, allowing me to create an environment that could ultimately turn into a small business and steady income.
I never imagined I’d be in a position where I had to ask for help, but the reality is that my circumstances have become overwhelming. I’ve done everything I can to manage—cutting expenses, working hard at my job, and trying to stay strong—but despite my best efforts, I’m at a point where I can’t make ends meet on my own. Dining on a slice of humble pie is hard to except, but as we say on this island, I have life, and good health, just need help.
The weight of student loan debt and credit card payments only makes things harder, and I’m worried about falling further into debt. That’s why I’m asking for help—not only to cover my immediate bills but to create the opportunity for a better future. Your generosity will allow me to stabilize my life, avoid further setbacks, and pursue the dream of starting a Floating Taco Bar.
