I am writing this with a heavy heart to share my family’s difficult situation and to humbly seek your kind support.

In September 2018, my father, Mr. Samir Kumar Chakraborty, suddenly fell seriously ill. After several doctor consultations in Bangladesh, he was admitted to the hospital in late December. At that time, he had no blood in his body, and doctors were unable to identify the exact cause of his illness. We spent around $8,000 on his treatment in Bangladesh, but his condition did not improve.

Desperate for proper care, we took my father to the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology in Hyderabad, India, on a medical visa. After tests, the doctors diagnosed him with Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST) and recommended surgery. We agreed and the operation was performed successfully. Unfortunately, our medical expenses increased rapidly. We had to borrow around $10,000 from friends and relatives to continue the treatment.

After the surgery, my father was moved out of the ICU, and we were full of hope. However, the very next day, he began having trouble breathing and was taken back into the ICU. Every day in the ICU required costly medication and intensive care. Our borrowed money was nearly finished. We spent around $12,000 more in India during this time.

After one week in the ICU, on March 21, 2019, the doctors informed us that my father had passed away. Our world fell apart.

We returned to Bangladesh with my father’s body. Since then, our financial situation has only worsened. I am the sole earner in my family, working as a lecturer at a private university. During COVID-19 in 2020, our struggles increased even more.

We still owe about $14,000, and the people we borrowed from are now putting a lot of pressure on us to repay the debt. With my limited salary, it is impossible to pay back this amount.

I have completed my M.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering and dream of doing a PhD one day and becoming a great teacher. But after my father’s death, life has become a continuous financial struggle.

I believe that there are kind-hearted people in the world who support those in need. I am humbly requesting financial help from anyone who can support me and my family in this crisis. Even a small contribution can make a big difference for us.

Our family needs $14,000 to overcome this debt and move forward with hope.
