Short Story
Hi. I’m sure you’ve heard this story before, but I am in debt and don’t see ever getting out of it. I will be 65 in a few weeks. I’m retired on Social Security, which isn’t very much. I had periods of my life where I didn’t work or had jobs that didn’t pay a lot so my SS payments are not the best. I had cancer and did surgery and a whole year of chemo. It was horrible. Every Wednesday for 4 hours and then the rest of the week feeling like blah. I also suffer with depression and social anxiety. I’ve been to counseling and on medication but they all seem to have so many side effects. I had cataract surgery on both eyes and surgery on both of my feet. Twice on the left. My joints feel like I’m 95 not 65. I have too much credit card debt. Part of it is my fault. I try to live somewhat a normal life and if I was short of cash, I charged things. Not fun things but necessary things. And the medical bills don’t help. To totally clear my debt, I need $30,000. I’ve been making monthly payments and have brought it down but it will take me the rest of my life, if I live that long. If there is anything you can contribute or you know of a wealthy person who can part with some money, that would mean the world to me. I hate worrying every month if I will get everything paid.
