For the past two years, my friend has opened her heart and home to anyone in need, offering shelter and kindness to those with nowhere else to go. She asked for nothing in return except for them to work toward getting back on their feet. Tragically, her generosity has been taken advantage of, leaving her in a heartbreaking situation.

She has been stolen from and taken advantage of by the very people she helped. Her vehicles are broken down, leaving her with no reliable transportation. Her washer and dryer, which were purchased brand new less than two years ago, are broken, as is her dishwasher, also purchased at the same time. The weight of these setbacks, combined with her mounting utility bills and mortgage payments, has become overwhelming.

1. Her utilities – Duke Energy, Piedmont Gas, and Greenville Water – are at risk of being shut off, and her home is on the brink of foreclosure. She’s doing everything in her power to find solutions, but the stress of these immediate threats is taking a toll.

In recent years, she has faced unimaginable loss. In 2017, she lost her 24-year-old daughter to an overdose, and in 2023, her 29-year-old son tragically passed away in a car accident. Her son had been her main source of support, and without him, she’s struggling to stay afloat.

This woman does not deserve any of this. She has a heart of gold and has always put others first, even at great personal cost. Despite her own struggles, she has continued to be selfless and caring.
