Hard Working Father/Grandfather
Story
I live with my family (mother, father, brother and nephew). My father has to work 2 jobs to support us. My brother and I are both adults(28 and 29). While my brother is currently employed, I am not. I have been out of work for a few years from a recommendation from my psychiatrist for mental health problems and because of me my dad has to work 2 jobs. He gets no days off, and while we arent in poverty, we live paycheck to paycheck. I personally feel an immense amount of guilt. I hate that he, at 67, still has to work, especially the amount he does. He’s worked so hard his entire life to give me, my brother, and now my nephew, everything we need. I just want my father to enjoy his later years in life and I feel as though I am taking that from him. He hasnt once made me feel guilty for being out of work and has been extremely supportive. He is a great father, grandfather, husband and brother. He knows nothing of this. I just want to be able to give him at least a fraction of what he’s given me. I love my dad so much and I hate to seem him so tired and stressed all the time. He has type 2 diabetes as well as other minor health problems. Im worried about him and I dont think he should have to work like this at his age. He’s turned to alcohol to help cope. I myself have dealt with substance abuse and I fear that the more he works the more he’ll fall into it.Â
