Story

Hello! My name is Lindsay, I am 20 years old, I am from Philippines. I am building this campaign for purely educational purposes.

Currently, I have a job right now, but it is not enough to help me to pay the bills, to help my family, and to help the family that I’m living in right now. If you do a research about the current status of the Philippines, you can see that our country is one of the top country when it comes to poverty and inflation.

I am currently living at my ex-boyfriends’ house along with his family. Why? because I don’t have my family nor relatives to live in and Cervical cancer took my mom almost 4 years ago now, that cancer took the only person who truly loved me, that cancer took my mom when I was only 16. I have broken family, my dad left us when I was about 4. I am their only child, but I have 1 step sister on my first step mom, and a step sister and brother on my second step mom. And right now, my dad is living with my 2nd step mom. My dad also abandoned my 2nd step sister, which is only 10 years old now. I no longer have a contact directly with my dad nor with his family now. My dad cut ties with me because my 2nd step mom doesn’t want me in their lives.

My relatives on my mom’s side have their own family’s and children’s that’s why they didn’t adopt me, same goes with my relatives on my dad’s side.

And the reason why I live in with my ex-boyfriend’s house along with his family because they offered me some help. They help me to finish and graduate my Senior High School. And not to brag but I graduated my Senior High School with honors. This is just to prove that I really wanted to finish my school. And after I finish my Senior High School, my ex-boyfriend broke up with me due to he fell in love with his classmate, and yes, I am still living at their house because we already straightened things between us. And his family is still willing to help me by letting me to stay at their house. And the reason why I did not continue my college due to financial issues. My ex-boyfriends’ parents explained to me that they no longer afford to help me to finish my college because they have 4 children (2 in college, 1 in senior high school which is my ex and 1 in elementary/grade school) and they no longer have the money to pay the tuition in college for me and as some of you don’t know, here in Philippines we don’t have a platform or program like ‘Education Loan’ or ‘Student Loan’ unlike in America.

I tried to apply in scholarships but there are still other fees left such as miscellaneous fees. And to explain to you why I still can’t go to college while I’m working due to my salary is not enough because I am now returning the kindness of my ex-boyfriend’s family by helping them to pay their monthly bills. And sometimes when I have extra I gave my 1st step sister a money as well as my 1st step mom to help them to survive as well.

I know there are other people who need more help than I do, but to be honest, I need some help too. I really wanted to graduate in college. I truly wanted to have a degree and diploma. I promise to you that I will pursue my dreams, I will help my family and loved ones, especially those people who are in need as well, I will stay my heart pure and kind, and I will make worth every of your money.

This is Lindsay, knocking in your kind heart and soul. Thank you and may God continue to bless you and your loved ones.
