Story

Good day – I am reaching out in sheer desperation to assist a community near me with food and essential items.  As you may be aware the unemployment rate in South Africa currently is 38% (I believe this number to be much higher).  Our Government of National Unity (GNU) has confirmed that 75% of our current unemployment rate are of ages from 18 – 25 years.  Initially I thought this was inflated however having visited the community of Frans recently I found this to be entirely true.

Even more shocking was how many households are run by children (under 18 years old) where parents/guardians have either passed away or are working far from home in an effort to contribute to the household.  Due to extreme low income or none in these households the older children ensure that the younger children attend school and are kept safe.  The major concern was being able to provide the household with food as this remains a daily struggle and with food prices rising in South Africa the small SASSA grants provided to not nearly meet the basic necessities for these communities.

I have decided to reach out for assistance to be able to set this up for the community.  You consideration would be highly appreciated.
