Dream Smile
Story
My name is Deborah, I’m from a small town out in Indiana. I use to have the worst teeth (before braces), once I got my braces everything seemed fine, but four years after having them, they were finally removed however we (by we I mean mainly the dentist but I could also tell something was going the opposite way, as well as noticing all of my teeth were different and not in the way I was hoping.) Yes they were mainly nice and definitely straight but throughout most of the 4 years I developed a ED and that completely ate away at all the enamel I had. After that my teeth have been slowly dying and being replaced. My mom told me (before she passed away) she wanted me to have my beautiful smile back and of course, she was hoping (as well as I was hoping too) that I could have that achieved before she passed away from her Stage Four Colon Cancer. She had me promise her, however we never knew how close she was to God until a few days after our conversation. I still do intend on keeping my promise. I saved up, I didn’t have insurance when I first got my top teeth done. Did the impressions, saved up almost 1800 for just the top denture. And that is not including the cost of the surgeon to extract all he needed to and then he inserted my top denture immediately after surgery was done so the swelling would help keep them in. I have a partial on my bottom, however everything outside of the 6 tooth partial, is broken, dead, looks gone but is really just pieces in my gums. I need to get my bottom ones done. I just want to feel better, to be able to actually eat like not just soft food like the crackers and bread/rolls, mashed potatoes diet I’ve had going on. I’m sure that hasn’t helped my teeth at all either. I’m 30 years old, I hate the fact that I’m having to get them. However, I eventually plan to marry and I want to not only physically look beautiful in and out of my mouth but also feel confident and happy about myself again. I just want to have my dream smile back but this time without losing anymore! I just feel like when people look at me or see my bottom teeth they automatically think the absolutely worst of me even though they couldn’t be further away from the truth. I’m a single mother of 2 who works Full time to take care of both of my daughters. I’m tired of being so depressed all the time or feeling down on myself. I want my daughters to see their mom happy and thriving and just all around better in general. People have no idea how much bad teeth affect them you know? I just appreciate even a read. I’m just trying to raise enough for at least the teeth so $1800.00 I can’t remember exactly how much the surgeon was last time but I’m going to assume it’s about the same ballpark (I hope). The surgeon would be right about $2500.00. I just can’t save up all that on my own in a timely manner (I got my top two years ago) it’s just about impossible to save up that much (and be justifiably correct for saving up for that) when I barely make enough to cover the bills and groceries. I don’t usually ask for help but it would be so so helpful and beyond life appreciating considering that would help me eat again and hopefully start looking more healthy down the road. What is that saying? Oh right. “When you look good, you feel good!”
