Desperate for rent, pet, bill help.
Story
I’m Sue. I’m 61, and I live alone with my buddy Purdy. (pictured) I lost my job one week before Hurricane Milton, and our rent is past due. FEMA, unemployment, disaster unemployment, local resources, and local charities act like I’m non-existent. I am currently working, but I don’t see myself making enough money by the first of the month to cover two months’ rent, and I don’t want to come home to an eviction notice on the door.
An eviction would mean Purdy would be headed to the shelter and I would be living in my truck.
I found Purdy wandering around a busy parking lot 9 years ago. I’m the only human he trusts, and he’s got some serious cattitude issues, which means his chances of being adopted from a shelter are slim to none. He’s prone to ear mites, and that’s another issue I could use some financial help with. (and the large population of wildlife around here probably doesn’t help. He’s miserable and becoming aggressive towards me and the neighborhood cats. He’s been off his flea meds (Revolution Plus) for over two months now which keeps the ear mites under control. We need help catching up on the rent so we can stay in our home. I don’t want to lose my buddy, and I certainly don’t want to see him put down because nobody is willing to give him the distance, space, and time he’ll need to adjust to life in a new home with a stranger. He avoids people at all costs, and sometimes that includes me. I don’t know why, it’s just who he is. He’s nowhere near the most loving pussy cat in the world, but he is mine, and we’ve learned to peacefully co-exist, and respect each other’s space and boundaries. Please help us stay together in our home.
