Story

The $50,000 I’m hoping to raise through crowdfunding isn’t just “extra cash”—it’s the key to unlocking my future. This money will directly tackle what I call my “trauma and disability debt,” those financial burdens that piled up before I understood how my C-PTSD, autism, and ADHD impacted my spending.

Here’s how I’ll use those funds to make homeownership a reality:

Eradicating High-Interest Debt

A huge chunk of the money will go straight to paying off my high-interest credit card balances and any personal loans. For years, impulsive spending fueled by dopamine chasing meant these debts spiraled, making saving feel impossible. Getting rid of them will free up a significant portion of my monthly income, finally allowing me to breathe and build up my savings. I consistently pay my bills every month, but now with added therapy for handling my AuDHD, I can actually go beyond paying bills to saving up for and then owning a home!

Building a Financial Cushion

A portion of the funds will be used to establish a small but critical emergency fund. While the main goal is debt reduction, having a safety net is crucial. It’s about breaking the cycle; if an unexpected expense pops up, I won’t have to resort to new debt, ensuring I stay on track.

The Path Forward

By systematically wiping out this $50,000 in “trauma and disability debt,” I’ll see some incredible changes. My credit score will improve dramatically, which is essential for securing a good mortgage rate. More importantly, the money that’s currently tied up in debt payments will become disposable income, allowing me to consistently save for a down payment—a goal that once felt completely out of reach.

Beyond the numbers, the most significant impact will be the reduction in financial stress. The burden of this debt has been immense. Clearing it will allow me to focus my energy on future planning and maintaining the financial regulation I’ve worked so hard to achieve. This crowdfunding isn’t just about money; it’s about providing the financial reset I need to finally turn my dream of buying a home into a tangible reality.
