A 35 year old working professional dug a financial pit for herself and is trying to dig herself out of it – any help (cash, employment opportunities, art contract pitches, etc.) Would be truly appreciated!
This beglist is ‘unique’ in that Ashley will be working as a tree planter from May to mid-July 2025 in remote locations and won’t be promoting or monitoring this beglist for the entirety of its run. Whatever funds and connections are sourced will only be known to Ashley at the end of it’s campaign so there are no expectations and plenty of grattitude.
Ashley’s Income Diversification
Story
My name is Ashley Grenstone, I am a 35 yr old professional working within the intersections of fine arts, design and human rights advocacy.
I am the founder of my small business ‘Ashley Grenstone | Ltd.’ Which fucntions as a ‘nexus’ for all my small business projects and pursuits.
In September 2024 I left my amazing job at a broadcasting organization due to burnout.
I have not been able to secure a new source of income since – be it a new job, bursary, contracts, etc.
Actually that’s not entirely true – In April 2025 I accepted a position as a tree planter in northern Ontario. It’s 2.5 months of physically demanding work, and I am grateful to have it as a means to make some decent cash and loose a bit of body weight.
I’ll be leaving for this opportunity May 2nd and returning some time in Mid-July 2025. So I’ve set up the start and end date of this beglist to reflect that.
I won’t be putting any effort into advertising or trying to market myself to people, and indeed there are more urgent causes to fund, so I am sett8ng this all up with zero expectations.
All that to say, I’m in debt because of my prolonged unemployment and because I don’t qualify for employment benefits. I put myself in this situation by avoiding help and support, so, my going to work in the solitary world of tree planting for a few months is entirely reasonable to chip away at some of those debts.
I got myself into this situation and I know it’s principallly up to me to get myself out.
